#1 Basic Wheat Germ Recipe
10 lb bag of sugar (you are only going to use 7 lbs)
One 11 oz jar of Kretschmer wheat Germ (red or Blue label). This is found in the cereal aisle of your grocery store, usually top shelf and usually near the Oatmeal. I have also seen Wheat Germ in Bulk in Health Food Stores and this will do fine also.
Two packs of Active Dry NOT Rapid Rise bread yeast. If you are a home brewer or wine maker use whatever favorite yeast you have around. I have grown fond of some of the Safale.
I love this recipe. Ferments as well as Red Star and the ever popular EC-1118. The active ferment smells strong of sweet pears and triple distilled it is almost Single malt smooth. It also ferments very fast and usually does not require nutrients.
Note: If you use this recipe DO NOT USE AN AIRLOCK. The ferment is violent enough to put it in your ceiling.
